Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Can adults really be diagnosed with ADHD? I thought it was a childhood condition.
A1: ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition with onset in childhood. Many adults are diagnosed later in life, including those who developed compensatory strategies that masked symptoms earlier. An adult diagnosis is clinically valid.
Q2: What happens if I don't have ADHD?
A2: If ADHD criteria are not met, the report will document the findings and any differential diagnoses identified during the assessment, along with appropriate recommendations.
Not everyone assessed is diagnosed with ADHD. The aim of the evaluation is diagnostic clarity, including consideration of alternative or overlapping explanations where relevant.
Q3: Does the report include a prescription for medication?
A3: Yes, where appropriate. We will discuss medication options during the report call, and a prescription can be issued at that point. Some ADHD medications are controlled substances in India and require an in-person appointment to prescribe. If that applies to you, we will go through the options and arrange accordingly.
Q4: Can the sessions be done fully online?
A4: Online sessions are conducted via Google Meet. You will get a link before each session - no special setup needed beyond a phone or laptop with a working camera. In-person assessments are conducted at Asha Neuromodulation Clinic, Kokapet. Please contact the clinic directly to book an in-person appointment at +91 70755 65262
Q5: Will my employer or university accept this report?
A5: The report is written to be accepted by most employers, universities, and other clinicians. If you have a specific requirement, such as a university disability office with particular criteria, get in touch before booking, and I can confirm whether this assessment will meet it.
Q6: How do I prepare for the assessment?
A6: Complete the screening forms and cognitive tasks before Session 2. That is the main thing. You do not need to prepare anything else. You can bring documents including school records/reports and any other written material if possible. The sessions are conversations, not tests.
Q7: Can a minor book an ADHD assessment?
A7: Yes, but a parent or legal guardian must provide written consent before the assessment can be completed and a report issued. A legal guardian means someone with formally documented parental responsibility. An older sibling or other family member accompanying the patient does not meet this requirement unless legal guardianship has been formally established. If a parent or guardian cannot be involved, please contact before booking so we can discuss whether and how to proceed. In some circumstances, an assessment can begin, but the report cannot be issued until consent is in place.
Q8: What happens if I do not want to proceed with the clinical interview?
A8: The clinical interview is the stage at which a diagnostic opinion can be formed and a report issued. If you complete the screening questionnaires and Session 1 but choose not to proceed with the interview, the assessment will be incomplete, and no diagnostic report can be provided.
In that case, you will receive a brief clinical letter confirming that screening was completed and that the assessment could not be concluded. This letter can be shared with your treating clinician if needed. The assessment pathway remains open; you do not need to re-refer or restart the process if you change your mind later. The Session 1 fee is non-refundable once the intake has been completed, as the clinical work has already been done.
Q9: What is included in the assessment fee?
A9: The total fee of Rs 5,000 covers the pre-session screening battery and cognitive tasks, Session 1 (clinical intake), Session 2 (structured diagnostic interview, developmental assessment), the written diagnostic report, and the 15-minute report discussion call. Each stage is billed separately as the assessment progresses: Rs 1,500 at booking, Rs 3,500 before Session 2, and report discussion is currently not chargeable.
Q10: Can the assessment be completed fully online?
A10: Yes, the assessment itself can be completed fully online via Google Meet. However, certain ADHD medications are classified as controlled substances in India and legally require an in-person consultation for prescribing. If medication is recommended following the assessment, an in-person appointment at Asha Neuromodulation Clinic, Kokapet will be needed before those medications can be prescribed.
